If you're viewing the portfolio on desktop, you might ask "Why does your portfolio look like a SONY MHC-3600 stereo system?"

In the 90's when I was really young my parents got a Hi-Fi system, and it looked so cool. I was completely blown away. It sounded great, looked like the future, and it was from the tail end of Japan's bubble era. That stereo survived almost 30 years of frequent use!

I like the way well-designed interfaces feel. It's pleasant to use something where people put thought into the controls and feel. It's an experience unboxing, powering up, and using something like that. Today's design trends are interesting, but I thought it'd be fun to explore 90's SONY and BMW (interior controls) on my portfolio. It reminded me of Digital Audio Workstation and VST UI the further I went with it.

I'm a full-stack dev who started building software at a young age. I think my history with creative activity like art or building software on computers is closely tied to hitting limits with the tools I had when trying to achieve my goals. I move on to a more advanced tool and do my best to grow by working up the next learning curve. I like figuring out how things work and trying to find ways to make systems intuitive to solve real problems.

I can work at both depth and breadth: I've built new products. I've worked on the core, difficult part of a system. Or if I'm at an organization with a suite of products, I've worked on something with a ton of history and dense business rules. I have no problem doing 0 to 1, and I've also done many legacy modernizations and 1 to 100 implementations. I gravitate towards where I'm needed to solve hard problems. I've been through successful acquisitions and provided expert testimony.

Focus
Full-stack. I've been just backend before, but I prefer to work at the systems level or full-stack.
Familiar Tech
Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Postgres (Any RDB really), Java, Tailwind, [It's been a while: Scala, PHP, Perl, C#, C++]
Status
Employed and not looking for new opportunities right now. Happy to chat tech though.

Outside of work/dev, I love spending time with my family. We have a large, friendly cat. Cheese is delicious (hence the username). I tinker with electronics and enjoy walking outside. My family and I watched a lot of baseball while I was growing up. I was terrible at playing it, but I have an appreciation for the game (Go Phils). Basketball is great too, but the Sixers can be an emotional rollercoaster.
